CWB will be sending a team of three clowns to meet up with local clowns in Indonesia to bring laughter to schools for street children in Jakarta, Mentawai (island affected by 2004 tsunami) and Central Java (still recovering from 2006 eruption of the Merapi volcano. This project follows a collaboration CWB started with the Red Nose Foundation 3 years ago. We hope it will grow from this past collaboration, and with your help develop sustainable support and work with our partners in Indonesia.

Clowns Without Borders USA and Pasos de Payasos Colombia will be collaborating again to bring smiles to communities in Dosquebradas, Risaralda, Colombia. This area with a population of 200,000 has seen years of the damaging impacts of forced displacement that ruptures family dynamics, narcotrafficking and influxes of child labor. Pasos de Payasos formed in 2009 after a successful collaboration with CWB and has continued to bring laughter to regions throughout Colombia. This initiative will last from February 19-March 10; it will provide free workshops and performances featuring Pasos de Payasos clowns and some partners from North America. Our goal is not only to provide 3 weeks of stellar performances in the rural regions of Risaralda, but also to build a sustainable 3 year collaboration with Pasos.

Tim Cunningham will be working with Barnaby King and the Pasos providing teacher trainings and workshops. The collaborative team will create a touring performance with local children and from it, they will develop a sustainable training program for the next three years. The team will also consist of hospital clowns from Manizales and a social worker from Bogotá. This project marks new directions for CWB as we work towards bringing the joy and developing systems so that the joy can sustain itself everywhere we go. Follow us at this page for updates and stories from the field!

The intention of this project is to work in areas within India that are crisis zones among populations of children that have been marginalized by society and living in extreme poverty. We currently have invitations from three organizations, including: MOBILE CRECHES, SALAAM BAALAK TRUST, and THE TEHELKA FOUNDATION.
In addition to working in Delhi, we will be working in Jaupur and Tilonia, in Rajasthan. Here we will perform and provide workshops at the Barefoot College and Digantar, organizationsworking with rural children to sustainable solutions and education.
We will be working with children defined as juveniles living in observation houses and who are considered in conflict with the law. We will also be working with the Crèches and Daycare Centres where they care for children of itinerant workers at construction sites and in slums. Finally we will perform for several 24-hour shelters for homeless boys and girls.
