*Moldavia -September
after 4 consecutive expeditions in Moldavia, Clowns
without Borders returned for a fifth time to this country to
offer shows for children in orphanages. Moldavia is a country
that receives very little humanitarian assistance and where
very few NGO’s are operating. The poorest country in Europe,
suffering from corruption and from the mafia, children are often
the first victims in this country that is bordering on ruin.
The state orphanages house up to 8 500 children only 30 percent
of whom are real orphans, the rest being abandoned by their
families who cannot provide for their needs.
* Afghanistan (from the 17th of August to the 8th
of September) :
for the fourth consecutive year, a new expedition to Kabul
and the surrounding region took place. Performances took place
in centers that cater to street children, in children’s
hospitals, in camps for people coming back from the refugee
camps in Pakistan and Iran as well as in centers for handicapped
children. A four day workshop for twenty animators from different
NGO's took place.
* Lebanon (form the 19th to the 28th of April, 2006):
this expedition took place in the Palestinian refugee
camps in Lebanon working with the NGO Children Refugees of
the World. After a previous visit four years ago, a new expedition

of the thousands of refugees. The shows for the children in
different children’s centers are moments of celebration
that permit them to forget their daily existence for a moment.
